In the first months of your pregnancy you can still sleep on your stomach. From the second trimester it becomes more difficult because your stomach gets in the way. The best posture to sleep when you are pregnant
If your belly really starts to get a good size , it’s best to sleep on your side. You have the best blood flow on your left side. That is the healthiest for the placenta and for your baby.
Your pelvis can then tilt again. If you already have problems with your pelvis and back , this may be less pleasant for you. It is therefore advisable to place a pillow between your legs and keep your knees bent so that your pelvis stays straight when you sleep on your side.
Is belly sleeping dangerous for the baby?
Many women wonder if sleeping on your stomach is dangerous for the baby. Obstetricians and gynecologists are crazy about the baker’s talk that exists! The advice they give is to lie down in such a way that it is most comfortable for you.
Although sleeping on your side is theoretically best for blood flow, this does not mean that other postures are by definition bad for your baby. Why this is the case still needs further investigation. The researchers suspect that the weight of the uterus and the baby presses on the blood vessels. This can hinder the supply of blood and oxygen to the baby.

- Do you normally like to sleep on your back? You can try to get used to a different sleeping position early in the pregnancy. This is better for your baby and it helps prevent pregnancy problems such as dizziness and back pain. Can work on your side with a pillow in your back.

- Instead of multiple pillows that can easily shift in your sleep, you can also invest in a nursing pillow. This is a long, snake-shaped pillow that you can drape past you.
